South Africa’s Minister of Trade recently met in Washington with the United States Trade Representative to discuss a possible reduction of the 30% tariff imposed by the Trump administration on South African exports to the U.S.
At a press conference, President Cyril Ramaphosa stated that the country “has now entered a more formalized phase of negotiations, based on the text we have received. This is an encouraging sign for us: it means we are no longer discussing in abstract terms, but are working more concretely on a text that should lead to a final resolution.”
