Federal Council Rules Out Including Alcohol Under India’s Goods & Services Tax for Now

In an interview on 5 September 2025, India’s Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs stated that the Goods & Services Tax (GST) Council is not currently considering the inclusion of alcoholic beverages within the GST framework, adding that she does not expect this to happen in the near term, “not in the immediate future.”
