China publishes policy document outlining new digital labeling requirements for prepackaged foods

The National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China and the State Administration for Market Regulation issued an announcement on 29 July 2025 regarding the digital labeling requirements set out in the “National Food Safety Standard: General Rules for Prepackaged Food Labels” (GB 7718-2025).
The new national standard for food labeling will enter into force on 16 March 2027.
