Alaska will require cancer warning signs in bars/liquor stores as of 01 August 2025

On April 25th, 2025, Alaska enacted a new legislation requiring all bars and liquor stores across the state to display health warning signs about the risks of alcohol consumption. Starting August 1st, 2025, the signs must alert customer that “alcohol use during pregnancies can cause birth defects” and that “alcohol use can cause cancer, including breast cancer and colon cancer.” The law specifies that each sign must measure at least 11 (28 cm) by 14 inches (35,5 cm), with text in contrasting color and letters no smaller than half an inch in height.
