The California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act takes effect on 01 January 2024. Wineries that sell product in California are required to register with CalRecycle, which administers the program. New labels showing the recycle value of the bottle and a list of state initials must appear on wine bottles by 01 July 2025. The legislation categorises wine companies as bottlers, rather than as packagers who are subject to stricter requirements.
