USDA Releases New Trade Guides for Saudi Arabia and South Africa

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA/FAS) has released two updated reports aimed at supporting American exporters.
On June 11th 2025, a new Exporter Guide for Saudi Arabia was published. The report offers practical insights for businesses looking to enter the Saudi market. It includes guidance on local business practices and can be accessed through the Abridge platform’s Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) section. The GCC is a regional organization comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Two days later, on 13 June, the USDA/FAS released its Annual Country Report on South Africa. The report provides a detailed overview of the country’s import requirements for food and agricultural products. Among the key updates are amendments to the Liquor Products Act, the introduction of South Africa’s new Plant Health Act, and proposed draft regulations for a management control system. These draft rules address standards for kosher, halal, and organic certifications.
Both reports are intended to help U.S. exporters navigate complex regulatory environments and expand market access abroad.
