The European Union recently released its first draft withdrawal agreement. The most relevant provisions regarding wine and spirits are from Article 36 onwards. It is currently proposed that any good that may lawfully be placed in the market in the UK before the end of the transition period will also enjoy free circulation inside the European Union. While this draft may well be modified, it does provide useful insights into where matters currently stand.
