Success for Oiv's ampelography course in Chile

Written by Redazione

From December 4 to 8, 2023, the 3rd edition of the OIV's International Course in Ampelography was held in Chile with great success. Organized by the OIV and the I+D Vinos de Chile Consortium, the course involved twenty-seven students from nine different countries.

During the five days, participants followed a training program taught by internationally renowned lecturers from viticultural research centers in Chile, Spain and France. The course offered students the opportunity to learn more about grape varieties and visit important Chilean wine regions.

Chile, famous for being the savior of the carmenere grape variety from phylloxera, was an ideal place to study historical varieties. The course prepares students for future challenges in the wine industry, including climate change and societal environmental expectations.

Following the success of the Chilean edition, a fourth edition of the Course is already planned for July 2025 in Germany.
