The French government reportedly may both increase taxes on alcohol beverages in 2024 and change the method of calculating increases for alcohol beverages.
Tax increases reportedly are currently calculated from the level of inflation for year N-2 (2021). Going forward, prices might be calculated from the inflation for the year N-1 (2022).
Although France’s Ministry of the Economy reportedly said that the tax increase would only involve "a few cents,” the French Spirits Federation has suggested the increase would amount to 1.17 euros per liter.
