European Union – New Zealand: European Commission sends trade agreement to Council for approval – The European Commission has reportedly sent the European Union – New Zealand free trade agreement to the Council of the European Union for approval. After the Council has adopted the agreement and the EU and New Zealand have signed it, the text must then be transmitted to the European Parliament for approval. The agreement would eliminate duties on EU food and drink exports, including wine and sparkling wine, and would also eliminate or substantially reduce EU duties on most New Zealand goods exported to the EU. |
