The South African wine sector has reportedly urged South Africa’s finance minister to refrain from increasing excise taxes on wine, sparkling wine, and brandy more than the rate of inflation for 2023.
A sector, which is recovering still from the pandemic, is dealing with supply disruptions and inflated input costs due to the war in Ukraine, and expects a smaller harvest due to weather conditions and power disruptions.
