European Union: EC launches public consultation on sustainable food systems proposal

The European Commission has launched a public consultation period for a proposal on horizontal framework legislation to make food systems more sustainable.

The Commission is seeking views on different ideas such as sustainability labeling or sustainability requirements for food imports.

The deadline for input is 21 July 2022. All comments provided through the consultation process may be released as public information.

The publication of the proposal is expected to be published in the fourth quarter of 2023.
